A Chalet for those who appreciate great food provided by the resident owner/chef, being pampered, log fires and the wonderful ski resort of Meribel!

Jerry and Bettina, the owners of Chalet Bartavelle, would like to welcome you to their charming chalet in Meribel. The emphasis is on personal service, attention to detail and fantastic food. We aim to seriously pamper our guests; you will eat like kings and won’t have to lift a finger except to ski.

As part of our service, we are happy to organise airport transfer, lift passes, ski hire, ski school, nannies and anything else you might need during your holiday.

The chalet offers a warm, welcoming feel. Originally a barn, it was converted into a chalet in 1974 and has been re-renovated to a high standard in 2002 and so it is a blend of old charm and modern comforts.

The chalet has a large living/dining room with a log fire and comfy chairs, in which to relax after a long days skiing. We have a good supply of books and games for your afternoon and evening entertainment and a stereo with CD player. We do not keep a TV in the living room but should you want, we can supply this together with a selection of videos and DVDs.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a mezzanine, sharing two bathrooms, all newly installed.

Chalet Bartavelle is situated in le Cruet, a typically rustic French hamlet. The chalets here all have individual character, giving the hamlet a unique feel. Le Cruet has the advantage of being only 5 minutes drive from lively Méribel, with its many activities and night life and being within walking distance to the village of Les Allues, with its local shops and restaurants. Le Cruet itself is peaceful; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing views. This year there is a new blue run, which runs just above the chalet, making it possible to ski back to the chalet. We offer a daily transfer to and from the slopes and there is a bus service every 40 minutes, which runs between Meribel and le Cruet, in case you should want to come back early one day. Should you want to go out in Méribel after dinner, we will be happy to take you up there.

Méribel is in the heart of the Three Valleys, the largest ski area in France. This area also includes Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Mottaret, St Martin de Belleville and La Tania. It has more than 200 ski lifts and over 600 kms of well groomed pistes, suitable for all levels of skier. Méribel boasts a wide range of activities other than skiing. There is a sports centre built for the 1992 Olympics with an ice-skating rink, heated swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and bowling alley. A Cinema, numerous shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs combine to make up the superior facilities of Méribel.

With an owner, who is a professional, ex west-end chef, it surely comes as no surprise that we consider good food to be of the utmost importance for your holiday experience.

Jerry has been a chef for 20 years, working in Australia, France and some of the best restaurants in London. As Senior Sous Chef, he was part of the management team behind Oxo Tower restaurants and previously with Harvey Nichols V Floor Restaurants. He emphasises the use of good fresh ingredients, to promote great flavours that complement each other. You can truly look forward to one of his superbly prepared meals.

Please note that they have a no smoking policy throughout the chalet. The double doors of the living room open onto the balcony, where it is possible to smoke.
