Situation
The wild life of B.C is truly amazing, and you will undoubtedly witness this during your journey through the Banff & Kootenay National Parks on your way to Kimberley. There are herds of Elk and Caribou throughout the region; you often see them cross the highway in front of your car. Mountain Goats and Big Horn sheep are also regularly seen on the sides of the hills and Mountains. Bison are the largest of Canada's wild animals, but no longer roam freely. You will still see them on farms at the foothills and at Walterton Lakes National Park. Canada is also the home to natural predators; wild cats are at large in the Forest and Glades, something to consider if you are planning to wander off the beaten track. The most famous of Canada's wild animals, is the Bear. Black, Brown and Grizzly are in B.C and are often seen in the suburbs scavenging for food. There is a Bear aware code that must be followed, mostly for the safety of the Bears but also applies for your own safety. The king of the skies is the Eagle, Golden and Bald are to be spotted hundreds of feet up in the Mountains and Osprey fish the rivers of the regoin, truly a majestic sight. Resort
"The sunshine resort of B.C."
Kimberley Alpine Resort is the destination for some of the best on mountain winter recreation and relaxation to be had. With exceptional downhill skiing and boarding, miles of groomed x-country trails, and mountain restaurants, Kimberley has something for everyone.
Families enjoy and appreciate the resort's exceptional grooming and cruising oriented runs, beginner slopes, and children's area. Thrill seekers can revel in consistent light dry powder and challenging steep mogul and powder fields of the backside, or the parks and pipe on the front.
Kimberley enjoys abundant sunshine and enjoys a cold dry climate, this is a perfect combination for plentiful powder all season long, and does not suffer the slushy lower slopes of the European Alps.
